About Julia

Hello there! I’m Julia, a food-loving creative professional living in New York City.

More specifically, I’m a food writer, photographer, and recipe developer with a life-long artistic background. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Connecticut, where I studied acting and performance.

In 2019, I decided to feed my creative energy in a new way and launched Bread & Basil. Within two months of publishing my first blog post, I landed my dream job as an on-camera baking host, collaborating with McCormick Spices for six videos in their Flavor Makers series.

Currently, I work as a freelance photographer for Dotdash Meredith with clients including Serious Eats and Eating Well. I also develop original recipes, write guides, and partner with brands across the culinary industry to create deliciously engaging written and visual content.

Whether on camera or behind one, I love cooking delicious food, learning new techniques, and sharing it all with you.
